"Most importantly, the needs of low-cost carriers must be understood and implemented by airport companies
"Whether there is a need for a specific airport for low-cost carriers, it is a consideration that can be debated and maybe there is no such need," Loke during Question Time in Parliament on Wednesday (Oct 16).
Loke was answering a supplementary question raised by Wong Hon Wai (DAP-Bukit Bendera), who wanted to know if the Government had plans to build more LCCTs in other states.
At the same time, Loke also said that the Government would not place a cap on flight ticket prices as this would go against the open economy concept practiced in the country.
"The market determines the price," he said.
Loke said the Government was aware that the price flight tickets goes up during festive seasons and it had taken various steps to encourage airlines to increase their number of flights.
"The Government, through other agencies, gives its full support in terms of cooperation to increase more flights during festive seasons.
"I have also discussed with airliners to increase more flights and to have more flights with fixed prices, such as midnight flights," he added.
