Upgrading Road, Drain To Solve Flash Flood At Jalan Thean Teik

GEORGE TOWN, Oct 13 - DAP Air Itam state assemblyman Wong Hon Wai hold a press conference today at Jalan Thean Teik on Monday morning said they will upgrading the road and drain to solve the flash flood at Jalan Thean Teik which in front the road of Sunshine Farlim Shopping Mall. 

He said the flash flood problem along Jalan Thean Teik is expected to be solved in the coming middle of 2016. The currently road of the widening and drain upgrading project is in progress. This development is expected to solve flood problem approximately  200 meters stretch from Treasure View apartments to Sungai Dongdang. 

“Flash flood usually occur when there is a heavy downpour, and the existing drainage could not cope with the execessive water, that is slow to flow into Sungai Dongdang. Who says developments caused flash flood ? In this case in Air Itam, development through road widening and drainage update will take care of flood problem,” said Wong. 

He added that normally continous heavy rain for around 30 minutes, will cause flooding up to one foot along Jalan Thean Teik. The road widening and drain upgrading project will be undertaken by the developer of Farlim Group (M) SdnBhd. Its senior project executive Chew Kwong Wey said the exisiting two lanes along Jalan Thein Teik will be upgrade to four lanes and the drain of 0.3m width will be extended to 1.2m.
