Wong Hon Wai : It was "wishful thinking" for Teng to raise the no-confidence vote issue

No-confidence vote against Najib

Meanwhile, Lim's political secretary Wong Hon Wai said it was "wishful thinking" for Teng and Umno Pulau Betong assemblyperson Muhammad Farid Saad to raise the no-confidence vote issue.

"They should convince their friends in BN first to file a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Najib Razak.

"Only then they have the moral ground to ask Penang Pakatan Harapan assemblypersons to file the motion against Lim.

Wong claimed the state government was solid, unlike BN ,which he described as " shaky" due to the international probe on the 1MDB.

Najib had chaired 1MDB's board of advisors until the board was dissolved in May.

The prime minister has denied using 1MDB's money for personal gains, and attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali has cleared him of any wrongdoing.

"It is Terengganu (ruled by BN) which needs to call for a vote of no concidence against the menteri besar, " added Wong, who is the Air Itam assemblyperson.

Speculation of snap polls is rife as Kijal assemblyperson Ahmad Said faces possible disciplinary action from Umno for criticising the party.

"The Penang Harapan assemblypersons are prepared to face whatever motion which is political in nature filed by BN and we are prepared to defeat it, " said Wong.
