GEORGE TOWN: Victims of the recent flash floods have come forward to claim the RM400 compensation offered by the state government.
Air Itam assemblyman Wong Hon Wai told theSun that about 60 households in Taman Thean Teik in his constituency had come forward and filled up the necessary documents for the payment.
He said this was an ongoing process facilitated by his service centre for the victims of the Sept 15 floods.
"I think it is better for me to reach them rather than they come for me," he said, adding that he will be in Jalan Shaik Madar tomorrow for more people to fill up the required forms.
Similar exercises were also carried out at other constituencies.
The amount will be distributed to the flood victims by their respective state assemblymen, councillors and Village Security and Development Committee members.
The application forms for the financial aid was distributed today and must be submitted within a month.
