PETALING JAYA: The 12 members of the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) have been selected.
Eight representatives from Pakatan Harapan, two from Barisan Nasional, and one each from PAS and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) will sit in the committee.
They are Wong Chen (PH-Subang), Willie Mongin (PH-Puncak Borneo), Muslimin Yahaya (PH-Sungai Besar), Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus (PH-Hulu Langat), Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir (PH-Johor Baru), Wong Hon Wai (PH-Bukit Bendera), Steven Choong Shiau Yoon (PH-Tebrau), Wong Shu Qi (PH-Kluang), Datuk Seri Ahmad Hamzah (BN-Jasin), Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad (BN-Parit Sulong), Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan (PAS-Kota Baru), and Robert Lawson Chuat (PBB-Betong).
It is understood that Dr Noraini’s name was suggested as a replacement.
Hasan was the former PAC chairman while Dr Noraini is Wanita Umno chief.
PAC is responsible for scrutinising the Government’s finances and the appropriation of the sums granted by Parliament for public expenditure.
Earlier this week, Parliament elected Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee as PAC chairman, the first Opposition lawmaker appointed to the post. Kiandee, who is Umno’s Beluran MP, was the former deputy speaker.
